BACKYARD REMODELING · KURTEN
Backyard Remodeling in Kurten, TX
Updating an existing backyard — a bigger patio, new beds, better drainage, a shade structure — without starting the whole yard over. We work across Kurten — FM 2038, Highway 21 / US 190 corridor, Kurten Cemetery Road and the surrounding area.
SCOPE
What this service covers.
Only the work we actually do — no padded list. If you are not sure whether your job fits, send a photo and we will tell you straight.
Patio expansions and replacements
Extending a small builder slab with pavers or stone, or taking out a cracked patio and rebuilding it on a proper base.
Beds and borders
Reshaping tired beds, cutting new ones, and setting stone or block borders that hold a line against the lawn.
Drainage corrections
Fixing the grade or adding a French drain so the new work does not sit in the same water the old work did.
One or two new features
A fire pit, a pergola, a walkway to the gate — added so they fit the yard that is already there.

Why people call about this.
The yard is dated, not broken
The layout mostly works, but the surfaces are worn and the plantings are overgrown. That is a remodel, not a rebuild.
The patio is too small to use
Builder slabs in Bryan and College Station often fit a grill and two chairs. Extending them is one of the most common requests we get.
Something keeps failing
Settling pavers, a soggy corner, a bed that washes out. In Brazos County clay the cause is usually water, and it gets fixed first.
KURTEN, TX
Backyard Remodeling in Kurten: what’s different here.
Kurten is a small town of about 400 people (395 at the 2020 census), roughly ten miles northeast of Bryan where Highway 21, US 190, and FM 2038 meet. It was settled by German immigrants in the 1860s, incorporated in 2000, and is mostly owner-occupied country homes on acreage. Kurten has its own zoning ordinance, and construction inside city limits needs a Land Use Permit through the Town Clerk’s office; septic systems are permitted through the Brazos County Health District.
Outdoor Living in Kurten
With acreage and shade from mature oaks, Kurten outdoor living spaces are often large covered patios set to look out over the property.
The ground
Kurten is in the Post Oak Savannah, with sandy soils over a clay subsoil under post oak woods, so trees, roots, and a clay layer a short way down shape most outdoor work.
Homes and lots
Country homes on three to five acres and larger tracts along FM 2038 and Highway 21, with very few small town lots.
