Why people call about this.
Steps and paths are dark
The most practical reason. Lighting changes in grade prevents falls.
The new patio goes unused at night
A patio or fire pit area with no light is a daytime space only.
The house disappears from the street
A few well-placed lights make the front of the house read at night and discourage visitors you did not invite.
WIXON VALLEY, TX
Outdoor Lighting in Wixon Valley: what’s different here.
Wixon Valley is a small rural city of about 230 people (228 at the 2020 census), roughly four miles northeast of Bryan. It grew up as a Bryan suburb in the mid-1980s, incorporated around 1988, and its name is likely a variant of Wickson, the 1840s settler family that also named nearby Wickson Creek. Wixon Valley handles septic permits inside its own city limits rather than through the Brazos County Health District, Wickson Creek can flood roads after heavy rain, and digging starts with a Texas811 locate.
Outdoor Living in Wixon Valley
Rural lots give room for covered patios and outdoor kitchens set back from the road, ideally on the higher ground away from the creek.
The ground
The city sits on post oak uplands cut by Wickson Creek and its branches, so low ground near the creek drains slowly and can flood, while higher ground has sandy soil over clay.
Homes and lots
Single-family homes on rural lots and small acreage rather than dense subdivisions.
