Why people call about this.
The yard slopes toward the house
A wall and regrade can level the yard and turn water away from the foundation.
Soil is washing out of a bed or slope
Every heavy rain carries more of it onto the lawn or the patio.
An old wall is leaning
Usually because nothing let the water out from behind it.
MILLICAN, TX
Retaining Walls in Millican: what’s different here.
Millican is a small unincorporated community of a few hundred people (240 at the 2010 census) in southern Brazos County, at FM 2154 and FM 159 between the Brazos and Navasota rivers. Settled in the 1820s and briefly the end of the Houston and Texas Central Railway in the 1860s, it is now rural, with pasture, post oak woods, and creek bottoms toward the Navasota River. As unincorporated county land, Millican falls under the Brazos County Floodplain Development Permit for construction in mapped floodplain and the Brazos County Health District for septic, and the long county roads make access and material delivery part of the plan.
Pavers & Hardscape in Millican
A patio on sandy upland and one near a clay creek bottom need very different base depths, so the soil on the actual spot decides the build.
The ground
Ground around Millican runs from sandy post oak uplands to heavy clay in the creek and river bottoms, so one tract can have both well-drained high ground and low ground that stays wet.
Homes and lots
Rural homes on ten-acre homesites and larger tracts along FM 2154 and FM 159, with ranchland and very few small lots.
