The ground

Grimes County uplands are gray sandy loams over clay subsoil, with dark clay alluvium in the Navasota River floodplain, so drainage and base depth depend heavily on which side of town and how close to the river a property is.

Homes and lots

Older homes on in-town lots near downtown, newer subdivisions such as Pecan Lakes Estates at the golf course, and acreage homes in the county around town.

Good to know

Inside city limits, fences and other construction are permitted through the City of Navasota Building & Permitting Office on East McAlpine Street, with applications filed through the city’s online portal; outside town, Grimes County rules apply.

SERVICES IN NAVASOTA

Everything we do in Navasota.

LAWN & LANDSCAPE CARE

Navasota mixes older in-town lots, golf-course subdivision yards, and county acreage, so service ranges from a weekly small-lot cut to large open mowing.

OUTDOOR IMPROVEMENTS

Older homes near downtown often have established trees and beds that need resetting, while newer houses at Pecan Lakes and on acreage start closer to bare ground.

SITE & PROPERTY WORK

Properties toward the Navasota River sit on dark clay floodplain soils that drain slowly, so grading and drains are planned around where the water can actually leave.

OUTDOOR LIVING

Outdoor living space in Navasota ranges from small back patios on older in-town lots to larger covered areas on acreage and golf-course homes.

OUTDOOR STRUCTURES

Inside city limits structures go through the city’s online permit portal, while shops and barns on acreage outside town follow Grimes County rules instead.

TURF, FENCES & COURTS

Fences inside Navasota need a city building permit, and outside town fencing on acreage tends to be longer perimeter and pasture runs.
