GREENRIVER IN WIXON VALLEY, TX

Wixon Valley is a small rural city of about 230 people (228 at the 2020 census), roughly four miles northeast of Bryan. It grew up as a Bryan suburb in the mid-1980s, incorporated around 1988, and its name is likely a variant of Wickson, the 1840s settler family that also named nearby Wickson Creek.

About 15 minutes northeast of our Bryan base, where Highway 21 / US 190 meets FM 2776.

The ground

The city sits on post oak uplands cut by Wickson Creek and its branches, so low ground near the creek drains slowly and can flood, while higher ground has sandy soil over clay.

Homes and lots

Single-family homes on rural lots and small acreage rather than dense subdivisions.

Good to know

Wixon Valley handles septic permits inside its own city limits rather than through the Brazos County Health District, Wickson Creek can flood roads after heavy rain, and digging starts with a Texas811 locate.

SERVICES IN WIXON VALLEY

Everything we do in Wixon Valley.

LAWN & LANDSCAPE CARE

Wixon Valley yards are rural lots with open lawn and tree lines, and mowing has to work around wet low spots near Wickson Creek after rain.

OUTDOOR IMPROVEMENTS

With homes set on rural lots, landscaping here is usually about framing the house and drive and keeping beds and edges defined against the surrounding woods.

SITE & PROPERTY WORK

Properties near Wickson Creek and its branches hold water after storms, so drainage, culverts, and building pads are planned around where the low ground actually is.

OUTDOOR LIVING

Rural lots give room for covered patios and outdoor kitchens set back from the road, ideally on the higher ground away from the creek.

OUTDOOR STRUCTURES

Shops, barns, and pavilions are common here, and keeping them out of the low ground along Wickson Creek is the first siting decision.

TURF, FENCES & COURTS

Fencing in Wixon Valley is usually perimeter or property-line fencing on rural lots, and runs that cross a creek branch or low ground need to handle high water.
